The Wild West has always held a special fascination for me – besides the classic Karl May novels, I’ve also watched all sorts of Westerns and, of course, admired the numerous rattlesnakes. In 2025, I had the opportunity to travel to this state and managed to encounter all native rattlesnake species. But it’s not just rattlesnakes that make this state so special in terms of fauna; numerous other species, such as the Gila monster and the horned lizard, never cease to amaze.
